For 25 years, I protected the people of Eastern Iowa, retiring as an Assistant Chief of Police and commander of a multi-jurisdictional drug task force. Today, I bring that same commitment to protecting my clients' interests in every real estate transaction.

I'm Jay Whitaker, a Realtor at Skogman Realty and the current President of the Cedar Rapids Area Association of REALTORS®. I didn't leave one career for another. I carried the skills that matter most with me: negotiation under pressure, attention to detail, and an unwavering responsibility to the people I serve.

In law enforcement, the job was simple even when it wasn't easy: know the facts, protect your people, and get the best possible outcome. Real estate works the same way. Whether I'm representing a first-time buyer navigating their biggest financial decision or helping a seller maximize their return, I approach every transaction with the discipline and thoroughness my clients deserve.

I was born in Keokuk, Iowa, and have called Eastern Iowa home my entire life, moving to the Cedar Rapids area in 2020. I know this community. Not just the market data, but the neighborhoods, the history, and the people. As CRAAR President, I'm actively working to uphold the professional standards that protect consumers and strengthen the reputation of the agents who serve them.

I'm a husband, a father of three, and a grandfather of seven. When I'm not working with clients, you'll find me on the golf course, reading, or exploring the rich history of Cedar Rapids, a city I'm proud to call home.
