Cedar Rapids Breakfast

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day! While there are many breakfast options to choose from, we love to start our mornings with a warm waffle topped with all the fixings.

Our real estate agents agree that this breakfast staple is truly deserving of an international holiday. Celebrate International Waffle Day on Thursday, March 25 with your favorite breakfast from one of these great restaurants around Cedar Rapids.

  1. Cafe Saint Pio - 99 - 16th Ave. SW, Cedar Rapids, IA 52404
Start your day in historic Czech Village with a tasty breakfast at Cafe Saint Pio. With an ambiance described as "charmingly kitschy," the cafe is serving up traditional and modern favorites such as biscuits and gravy, avocado toast, and turkey sausage quiche. Customers rave about the coffee, including mochas and other specialty drinks. Hours are 7 a.m. - 4 p.m. daily.

  2. Breakfast House Cafe - 820 - 6th St. SW, Cedar Rapids, IA 52404
Restaurants like Breakfast House Cafe don't need a trendy name. They simply let the food speak for itself. This family-owned business spanning two generations was literally washed away during the flood of '08, but the Daouds' commitment to the community around Cedar Rapids homes for sale brought Breakfast House Cafe back better than ever. George's Combo, an omelet stuffed with ham, peppers, mushrooms, and hash browns and topped with a trio of cheese, is a tribute to the family's patriarch. Breakfast House Cafe is open weekdays from 8 a.m. - 2 p.m. and weekends from 7:30 a.m. - 2 p.m.

  3. The Class Act Restaurant - 7725 Kirkwood Blvd. SW, Cedar Rapids, IA 52404
How do you make breakfast even better? Combine it with lunch. Whatever you're in the mood for, the brunch menu at The Class Act Restaurant has something to fit your taste. Choose a classic breakfast such as steak and eggs or a Mile High omelet, or dig into a yummy Reuben or chef's salad. Located in the Hotel at Kirkwood Center, Class Act offers in-room, onsite, or carry-out dining. Brunch is served 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. on weekends.

  4. Mikey's Family Restaurant - 2215 Westdale Dr. SW, Cedar Rapids, IA 52402
The handmade sign carved out of a tree trunk sets the tone for the homey atmosphere waiting for you at Mikey's Family Restaurant. This is one of those classic American diners where the waitresses keep your coffee cup filled and kids get Mickey Mouse pancakes. All the comforting breakfast dishes are here, from the corned beef hash and eggs Benedict to French toast and cheese omelet. Mikey's is open seven days a week from 7 a.m. - 2 p.m.

  5. Bea's Cafe - 2727 - 6th St. SW, Cedar Rapids, IA 52404
Don't be fooled by the cozy simplicity of Bea's Cafe. Their breakfast offerings put a creative spin on classic dishes. It's not unusual to find pizza, enchiladas, or ham and cheese sliders among the daily breakfast specials. You might be as excited as your kids to find that you can add toppings such as Butterfingers, cinnamon apples, and peanut butter to waffles, pancakes, and French Toast. Hours are 7 a.m. - 1 p.m. weekdays and 7 a.m. - 2 p.m. weekends.
