With the new year, comes new health goals. If you’re looking to try a new fitness routine and not sure where to start, we’ve got you covered. There’s something for everyone in our 9 types of workouts to try in 2019 – whether you want something high intensity or something that feels too fun to be a workout, you’ll find your spot. 1. Cardio Kickboxing at North Liberty Extreme Fitness

Work all your muscles at this bootcamp-style fitness class. NLXF combines kickboxing, strength and cardio classes to give you a full-body workout.  You’ll be using a combination of dumbbells, resistance bands, steps and other equipment in various ways for a different workout every time.

2. CrossFit at CrossFit the Challenge

Get a full-body workout with elements of gymnastics, weightlifting, running, rowing, and more. You’ll be doing movements that you do in everyday life – jumping, pushing, pulling, squatting, carrying and others to build core strength. View the class schedule here.

3. BodyPump at Northland Fitness

If you want to get lean, build strength and work all your major muscle groups, you need to try BodyPump at Northland Fitness. This 55 minute barbell class uses weights with light repetition to strengthen your body. View the group fitness schedule here.

4. Pilates at Rivercity Pilates

5. Spin at Burst Cycle

6. Hot Yoga at Hothouse Yoga

7. Burlesque Dance at Vitality Fitness

Ladies, if you want to work out without feeling like you’re working out, take a fun burlesque class at Vitality Fitness in downtown Cedar Rapids. Their classes include Vintage Burlesque, Cabaret Burlesque and Vixen Dance. Don’t worry if you’ve never danced before, they have both beginner and intermediate classes. 8. Barre at Barre 3

A mix of cardio and mindfulness, Barre is a full body balanced workout that aims to sculpt, slim and stretch your body. You’ll use barre and exercise equipment like small hand weights to  choreographed music.
