We took a look at last year’s real estate market in both the Cedar Rapids and Iowa City metro areas to give you a general idea of how home sales are in the area.

Cedar Rapids Metro Area:
In 2015, 3,069 homes were sold in the Cedar Rapids Metro Area, up almost 8% from the previous year. The average sale price of a home in the area sold for $168,160, which is up from $159,500 in 2014. The average number of days on market is 72, down 10 days from 2014. The list to sale price ratio (average final sale price or what a buyer paid for the home divided by the average last list price expressed as a percentage) was 98%.

Iowa City Metro Area:
In 2015, 2,047 homes were sold in the Iowa City Metro Area, up almost 5% from the previous year. The average sale price of a home in the area sold for $231,300, which is up from $227,400 in 2014. The average number of days on market is 72, up 2 days from 2014. The list to sale price ratio (average final sale price or what a buyer paid for the home divided by the average last list price expressed as a percentage) was 98%.

Overall, the Cedar Rapids and Iowa City Metro Area remain strong with more houses sold than the previous year at a 98% list to sale price ratio.
